Time flies. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve posted I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve (re) started blogging. Given I was posting stuff online in the mid/late 90s, and never really managed to keep things going, it’s been a few.

My problem is twofold – I always seem to have other things to do instead of sit and write something like this (like write a tune!), and also imposter syndrome generallykicks in hard. Who’s interested?

The two together are a recipe for so many false starts.

So why am I here again? Well, two main reasons. Firstly, I’m going though one of those stages where ideas are piling up against each other. I’ve got lists that are on their way to post-it notes to be stuck in front of my face at my workstation to make sure I don’t forget stuff. There’s some nice stuff happening, with hopefully more on the way. So I thought if I start sharing, it might be interesting to some, and also might give me a bit of focus. And I’m always up for feedback and a bit of collaboration – but if I don’t tell folk what I’m up to, neither will happen…

Secondly, I’ve had a little run of people saying I should do something in this vein. Someone mentioned my singles listening chain on hive.blog recently. Someone else mentioned the video diary I did a handful of a couple of years ago – would I do more?. Streaming on twitch has been mentioned.

And I like the idea in general – I will admit to being a bit concerned I’m starting something again that will last a few weeks and then fade into oblivion again. But I’ll never know if I don’t even start, right?

So here I am. Tapping the mic again.

I’ve tried to be clever and set this up so I can post to my website and also to hive.blog at the same time. So forgive me if this turns into a bit of a test post from this point in. I promise to talk about something more interesting soon…

I need to check how a few things embed. I know I can get them to work in WordPress, but will they crosspost to hive.blog….?

That’ll do for now. I’ll fettle with other stuff as I go along.
