Na’then. ‘Ow yer meggerin’?
Thought I was long overdue a check in.
I’ve been mulling recently what 2026 would/should/could look like in gribblyland. And as ever, I find myself caught between stations spending more time listening to the noise in my bonce rather than settling on a things and actually doing stuff!
Anyway, I thought I’d use this post to get some thoughts down in writing, and then see what transpired. Always keen to hear if folk are particularly interested in anything – if someone responds to a particular project it’s *very*likely to get a not more attention! So….
This is Rumour Control. Here Are The Facts.
Releases

In terms of releases, I have potentially 3 albums in progress. The quiet and the Noisy ones are pretty much nailed on for release at some point his year – nothing is quite finished, but there’s some nice ideas in there. Either as 2 albums or a series of e.p.s
The Singy One is a little more sketchy. There’s 7 tracks in there at the moment, some quite old now. But I think there’s a 4 track e.p. in it. Perhaps. Or I may just put them out to fans only somehow. Still mulling that one over.
Anyway, here’s a little peek at a work in progress from the quieter one. Its working title is ‘Lien’.
Live
I enjoyed playing live last year, though it did take a chunk out of my creative headspace because I spend loads of time rehearsing. I *think* I’m over that now, so if I do get round to some live work this year hopefully I’ll be a little more chilled and not feel the need to rehearse quite as much.
I’ve nothing ‘in person’ lined up, though intend to get myself booked in for a couple of EMOMs. I’d like to do a Wavelength up in Whitby (so I should get in touch with them, really) and I’d love to play Switched On again. There’s also a Folklore event in May, so thinking of throwing my hat into the ring for that.
I’m considering doing something chilled and meditative in a little village church in Lincs, but that’s **very** early stages and may not happen.
I am booked in for a livestream concert in April, though. Looking forward to that, though I need to sort my room out so I look halfway decent/professional. That said, I’ve done a couple of rehearsal streams in the past, so should be OK. It’ll probably be the set I did last year with a couple of new additions…
Here’s one of the live rehearsal streams I did last year…
Looking back that’s not a bad setup. Decent view of what I’m doing, and if I can get the videos I used live last year working automagically (instead of starting things manually like I am above) then that could be quite cool. Be good to get a mic set up for some gribblychat in-between songs too…
Anyways, I’m definitely up for a bit more live work, so if anyone fancies a bit of live gribblytunes or knows of anyone looking, do let me know…
Commissions
I’ve already done a theme for an upcoming podcast for a theatre company I know. They’re a talented bunch, and they have a couple of excellent writers in the group, so perform mainly original material. I’ve done music for them before, and it’s a real delight to be given a brief (or read a script) and come up with something suitable. I will post about it when the podcast is released, but I’ve done about half a dozen tracks for them now, so I may consider a release of that material too…
Collaborations
Talks are in progress…watch this space… 😉
Art
I started dabbling with some arty stuff early last year, and then it all fell by the wayside a little. I aim to pick that up again this year, and use more of my own artwork for releases etc. To be frank, I’m not that good – but the only way I’ll get better is by doing more. So I really, really need to make time.
I’ve done a bit of tweaking to the website, but only got to the stage where I don’t like it!!
Content is OK I think, but I really need to do a number on the design. That’ll probably be a ‘when I get round to it’ thing, though. Unless I just find a nice template. We’ll see.
There’s a few other things bouncing round, but they are proper sketchy – best not to mention them until they get a bit more real!
So that’s pretty much where I am as of right now. Feathered in-between all that is the fact that my studio is a tip – I really need to get my creative space in order. And I really do want to pick up the video diary things I started then got out the habit of doing. Again. Rubbish. 🙃
I’m off now to write a to-do list or 4 and see if I can’t get things in some sort of order….
Take care,
.g
