Moosic from Llamasoft’s Moose Life

The ‘special’ CD…

I’ve been a fan of Llamasoft games since I was a spotty teen playing computer games in my bedroom in the early 80s. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to get to know Jeff and Giles a little, and be involved in the Llamasoft forums and various meet-ups that sprung up around that community.

I had a couple of tunes in their VR smash, Polybius, but I was still blown away when I had the chance to provide all the music for their latest game, Moose Life. (See https://store.steampowered.com/app/1342740/Moose_Life/). The spotty teen inside me still can’t quite believe it!

So, as I’ve got into the habit of making some ‘homemade’ CDs for odd releases – nothing too grand, just a bit of a personal touch – I thought it’d be nice to do something special for the Moose Life Moosic CD.

As well as making the CD as usual, designing the artwork, cutting the covers, printing & burning the CD, and putting it all together, I wanted to do something extra. My wife, Sarah, if a bit of a crafter. She’s a whizz at crochet and knitting and other stuff (seriously – you should check out her Etsy store), and in the past she’s done these cute little crochet animals – just a couple of inches long, they’re called amigurumi.

So I asked her if she could do a few moose for me to give away as a freebie with some of the CDs that get sold 🙂
And, well – here he is. Meet the moose….

To give you an idea of the size…..

So I have just 5 to give away. I didn’t want to just give them to the first 5 folk who buy the CD, as it’s natural for people to come to buy at different times. So to make it fair, I thought I’d give it a month, then choose 5 random people from everyone who bought the CD in that month. So to be in with a chance of receiving a moose, you need to have bought the CD on or before the 2nd October.

Anyway, that’s nice enough -but it gets better. The wool Sarah has used comes from sheep that live at an animal sanctuary close to us that rescues livestock – Manor Farms Charitable Trust . They prepare the wool from the fleeces kindly donated by the rescued sheep, and sell them through Hooligan Yarns. So, as they say, we know who we are knitting. And in this case, the brown is from Cindy and the white horns are from Dumpy.

This is Cindy

This is Dumpy

Given that Jeff & Giles have their own flock of rescued sheepies (as well as other furry creatures), I thought the link with the sheep from Manor Farm was just spot on! (As do the Llamasoft chaps)

I don’t know how the CD will sell – but if it does OK, I intend to send some proceeds from the sale of the CD to Manor Farm and also fund some digestives for the Llamasoft flock. 😉

Which, all in all, I think is a llovely thing.

PS Just to be 100% clear – not everyone who buys a CD with get a little amigurumi moose. There are only 5, and I will randomly choose 5 people who bought the CD on or before the 2nd of October.
